Plan B

Created in three weeks in collaboration with Jaycie Ewald for the Map Labs "Crossfire" competition in February 2021.

The Crossfire competition required entrants to take the layout from the Half-Life deathmatch map Crossfire and remix it into whatever they wanted. For our entry, we turned it into a level set in City 17 during the events of Half-Life 2: Episode One.

A lot of the challenge in this competition came from recontextualising the geometry of Crossfire to suit the needs of our map's art and gameplay. The original was set in a very industrial setting, while ours was in more of an urban residential setting. Besides having remix the Crossfire layout, we were free to do whatever we wanted. We ended up making a very classic Half-Life 2 style map with the player fighting both zombies and soldiers as they progress through the map.
